Last weekend, I was looking for a simple way to get together with the students on Sunday evening that I could plan by myself because Bandol was busy helping her sister with the new baby. So, I spoke to the management at my apartment to see if we could have a pizza party on the rooftop terrace. Although the building is still under construction, they agreed to let me have a small gathering but limited me to 30 people. So, the plan was to order pizza and have just the CLEW students & a few others on the roof.
Then, at noon on Sunday, I received a call saying that there were electrical problems on the roof so we wouldn't be able to host it there. I happened to be out with Bandol and 3 of the students at the time, shopping for items for the dorm. Plan B was to have it at the old dorm. Then Bandol suggested Plan C which was to hire a boat like Chuck had done when he was here in September. She called the boat and sure enough it was available so we had the pizza delivered there that night. This also allowed us to open it up to more people although it was very short notice by this point. There are a number of people who weren't able to make it but fortunately, some of the CLEW graduates were available to join us so it turned out to be a really fun party with lots of dancing! As usual, there was a mix of Khmer music and dancing with current western style music and dancing. Special thanks to Bennett Gastle for sponsoring this event!
I think these pictures really capture the sisterhood that is CLEW!
